Intimacy is the feeling of closeness and belonging we have with ourselves and our personal relationships. It is a familiar and very close emotional connection. True intimacy starts with ourselves. When we get to know our deepest desires and pleasures, we are able to share this with the ones we love.
Emotional intimacy is one of the most important types to share with your partner. It means you're able to express your feelings and emotional needs in the relationship, which requires some vulnerability. This place can be hard for a lot of us .our past childhood traumas and traumas moving into adulthood can leave us feeling numb inside, less, desired, and desirable.
The highest level of intimacy requires the greatest amount of trust in our relationship (can we be vulnerable and trust ourselves?). It is only when you feel safe with yourself you will be able to be vulnerable to someone else, then you become willing to share the deepest part of your core. It's up close and personal.
